psm-5thbdayThe blog turned 5 years old back in October while I was still in shock from Trump winning the election—we can all agree that this has been one crazy year. I promised myself I’d do the annual photo and blog post before the end of the year, so here it is.

Borrowing tradition ~ 5th wedding anniversary gift is wood ~ a major theme in my novel, Peach Seed Monkey (yes, still revising; don’t get me started.)

Never had an imaginary friend but dealing with fictional characters must be like having a bunch of them occupying your headspace and eventually infiltrating your real space; sitting beside you as you tie your shoes, or standing with you at the sink as you wash rice.

To celebrate this 5th birthday I’m sharing an essay I wrote in 2011 titled, The Waiting Room — published on Left Coast Writers’ Roadwork. The piece is an homage to characters. Where would we be without them…
